Tiger paste is notoriously hard to apply consistently at industrial speed. FoodJet automates tiger paste depositing on loaves, buns, and similar bakery products using vision-guided depositing—so every product gets the right layer, in the right position, without constant manual rework. Tell us your product size, paste type, and line layout, and we’ll configure the right nozzle pattern and integration.
What is tiger bread?
Tiger bread (also known as Dutch crunch or giraffe bread) is a bread type characterised by its crackled crust.
The pattern comes from a rice-flour-based paste applied before baking, which dries and fractures as the crust expands in the oven.
In industrial production, the key challenge is applying this paste consistently and cleanly at line speed—so every product develops the same signature look.
Tiger bread machine for automated tiger paste depositing
Consistent paste layer across tins/products (within process limits)
Reduced manual labour and rework
Cleaner tins and conveyors by minimising spillage (depends on paste/setup)
Suitable for continuous industrial production
Why manual tiger paste coating causes variation and downtime
Uneven layer thickness → inconsistent crackle pattern
Spillage on tin edges/conveyor → cleaning and rejects
Operator dependency → variation between shifts
Changeovers and cleaning interrupt throughput
How the FoodJet tiger bread machine works
Paste fed from supply system to depositing head(s)
Depositing onto tins/products (optionally vision-referenced to position)
Software controls the recipe per product
Designed for integration into existing conveyors/tin lines
Process control: weight, position and pattern
Deposit weight per product / per zone
Position relative to tin/product
Pattern/nozzle layout for even coverage
Repeatability across batches and shifts
Line integration, hygiene and changeovers
Integration with tins/trays/conveyors
Cleaning concept aligned to your hygiene regime
Changeover approach (recipe + nozzle/pattern adjustments)
Access, guarding and service considerations (as applicable)
Typical products and line setups
Loaves in tins
Rolls/buns on trays or conveyor
Product spacing variations handled via recipe/setup
What we need to specify your solution
